Benefits of Chamomile Tea

Health Benefits of Chamomile Tea

Chamomile Tea is one of my personal favorites. It has this really strong floral aroma and I just can’t get over the bitter-sweet taste that dances on my palate with every sip. But is this tea just all that? No, it isn’t as superficial as I make it sound. Chamomile Tea is not only delicious, but it has various health benefits that you should know about!

1. Helps fight Insomnia:

This tea has natural sedatives that calm down your nerves and help you sleep better. Many people who suffer from Insomnia also tend to face problems of anxiety that might cause sleeplessness. Hence drinking chamomile tea half-an-hour before going to bed is a great ritual to ensure good sleep.

2. Promotes digestive health:

A few studies have found that chamomile extract has the potential to protect against diarrhea in mice. This is attributed to its anti-inflammatory properties. This shows that drinking of chamomile tea can help you better your gut health and also fight bloating and other digestive problems.

3. May help fight cancer causing threats:

Chamomile tea contains a certain type of antioxidants called, apegenin that is known to fight cancer cells. In test-tube studies, apigenin has been shown to fight cancer cells, especially those of the breast, digestive tract, skin, prostate and uterus. Hence consumption of this tea helps you stay away from cancer.

4. Lowers risk of diabetes:

Chamomile tea is recommended by many doctors for those with high blood sugar levels. Its anti-inflammatory properties may prevent damage to the cells of your pancreas, which occurs when your blood sugar levels are chronically elevated.

Now that you know the various health benefits of chamomile tea that is my favorite tea ever! Without the bias too, I’d like you to give it a try. The world hasn’t seen as many illnesses as it is seeing today. We can blame it on climate change or other factors, but the truth is, we need to take care of ourselves more than we ever did. Hence switch to healthy eating and drinking!
